Cops, America’s finest. Why are so many of them nothing more than punks with badges. Just about every time I start to think of them in good terms, I run into the village idiot.

Coming home today, a black Xterra whipped in front of me; almost hitting a car I was letting into the lane in front of me. Luckily, we didn’t hit.

The driver of the Xterra didn’t like getting honked at, and proceeded to “go all macho” because of it. He followed me down the street. He really got pissed when I laughed at him.

He pulled up beside me and I rolled down my window and asked what his problem was. I told him that I didn’t appreciate being a part of the accident he almost caused. At which point he informed me that it wasn’t his fault. Why wasn’t it his fault? Because he was a police officer! That’s why.

He really seemed to like the word “breau.” He then flashed his badge at me and informed me (breau) that he did this for a living (breau). I wasn’t sure if meant being a police officer, causing accidents or just being stupid.

My bet is on stupid. Breau?

Let me see, cutting into traffic at a high rate of speed and switching lanes without a turn signal. Of course it wouldn’t have been his fault! After all, he’s a police officer! He had his little toy badge to prove it!

The worst part was that he had his little baby in the car with him! Way to go breau! Nothing like a little child endangerment, right breau?

What we have here is some young punk who thinks that a gun and a badge gives him the right to do whatever he wants. Unfortunately, from personal experience, he’s right. Other law enforcement personnel, I won’t call them professionals, just look the other way.

Is it little wonder that many American’s no longer trust the police? Often times the only difference between a cop and a drug dealer is the badge.

One time I reported a cop for reckless driving; the watch commander asked me if I hated cops! Do I? Do you hate a rabid dog when you put him down?

Now trust is another matter…

Freedom of Speech?

There was a time when I thought Americans were guaranteed the right to freedom of speech. Now, I know better!

I had written several articles about the experiences my wife and I suffered during the process of bringing her to the US legally.

Imagine my surprise when I received a letter from The Unauthorized Practice of Law Committee. I was accused of practicing law without a license!

I never represented myself as an attorney; only offered an accounting of our lengthy and expensive journey.

I’m sure I’ll never find out which lawyer reported me to the committee, but I know it was one of the shysters who prey on the people attempting to immigrate to this great country.

I’m in the process of responding to the accusation now!

Since I’m going to have to defend myself against lawyers there’s no telling how it’ll turn out. Truth and justice seem to be irrelevant concepts to most of the law profession.

Maybe I’ll be surprised!

alienates Muslim citizens at its peril”. All of this anger because someone objected to the use of the Quran to swear in a public official.

According to some American newspapers, US Muslims are in an uproar!

Why don’t these same people make their anger known when their fellow Muslims commit rape and murder against non-Muslims?

Why don’t they make their anger known when Sunni and Shia Muslims kill each other in the name of their religion? Iraq!

Why don’t they make their anger known when the President of Iran calls for the destruction of both Israel and the United States?

Why don’t they make their anger known when Muslims commit wholesale genocide? Darfur!

Should the Quran be used to swear in an American politician? Why not, and who cares! There are more important things to deal with!

Muslims should spend more time condemning radical Islam’s violence and less time being offended by the statements of an American blogger.

Blood Tears and IV’s

Do you really want to know what life is like for our troops in Iraq? If so you have to read this book.

Blood, Tears, and IV’s was written by an US Army combat medic attached to the 173^rd Airborne who spent a year in Iraq.

This book brought back memories of my experiences during and after the First Gulf War. Especially the attitudes of those who didn’t go to the war.

I remember being told how lucky I was because I got to go to war. I thought at the time that these people just didn’t get it.

Now I know it wasn’t just me.

Sergeant Elisa Lonsdale gives an incredibly readable insight into her time in Iraq. If you are looking for a dry historical narrative you’ll not find it here. Instead you’ll find a soldier who bares her soul and shares her triumphs and her pain.

In parts of this book it was impossible not to cry with her...

What I like most is Sergeant Lonsdale’s ability to share her inner most self without becoming a victim.

This book offers the average American a peek at the sacrifice, bravery and compassion of the American soldier.

If you care about our troops you need to read this book.

Three Little Rules...

Last week, I received a comment about one of my posts. In my response I asked why the poster didn’t use their real name. For that, I was accused of attacking the poster.

Isn’t it interesting what people will be offended by? Instead of being offended by the fact that I think most Liberals are sheltered sheep, they chose to be offended by my request to identify themselves.

I love to receive comment on what I write. However, I ask that people observe a couple of rules.

Rule Number One:

Use your real name. Your first name will do if you don’t want to leave your full name.

(I have noticed that people are more civil when they can’t hide behind a pseudonym.)

It seems to me that if you strong in your opinions, then you shouldn’t be afraid to own up to them.

So, if you chose not to leave your real name I will delete the comment.

Rule Number Two:

Please do me the courtesy of posting original comments, not a cut and paste from your blog.

If I can go to your blog and find your entire post buried within your blog entry I’ll delete your comment.

Rule Number Three:

You can say anything you want, but please provide examples of your agreement or objection.

For example:

The Iraq War is an illegal war. (Doesn’t cut it and will be deleted.)

The Iraq War is an illegal war because… (Might make it if you have a valid argument.)

I don’t get many comments because I’m not really trying to build a readership for this blog. The material contained, in my blob, is my opinion based on personal knowledge, experience and reading.

Another Liberal Without a Clue…

Sometimes reprimanding a child (President) doesn't make the family (Washington) a happy place. But you still have to do it so the child and his siblings (future presidents) learns about accountability. Holding government officials accountable for their actions strengthens our democracy. Letting lawlessness stand weakens it. Impeachment is horribly UNDERUSED. Which is part of why there's so much corruption at the top. They must learn to fear it.

People think things are better because we improved the make-up of our law-making body (Congress). But the whole point is that Bush is BREAKING LAWS. So, it doesn't matter how many laws they pass if they don't serve ther OVERSIGHT duty (they swore to defend the Constitution) by impeaching.

I always thought that in a Democracy the voters were the main check on corruption.

Why is it that you Liberals always resort to litigation when you can’t get your way at the polls?

If you disagree with a president then you defeat him at the polls, not judicially. Why is it that politicians always try to legislate that which they can not achieve in an election. Impeachment was included in our system of government to address gross misconduct.

If you disagree with the prosecution of the War on Terror then vote the president out.

Maybe you’d rather have a man that cheats on his wife (Clinton), spends ten years bombing a country (Iraq), leaves American troops hanging out in the wind unsupported (Somalia), oh and don’t forget invading another country without UN sanction (Bosnia).

Didn’t hear any of you Democrats calling for Clinton’s impeachment then did we? Hell we’re still in Bosnia. Of course that’s President Bush’s fault, right?

I have lived and served all over the world, what we are doing now is probably the single most important military action the United States has undertaken since the Second World War.

Please tell me which laws President Bush is breaking? I’m so tired of hearing that, point out the laws he is breaking and we’ll talk about it.

Democrats just seem to be unable to admit that President Bush has done anything right. And I mean anything!

You people whine about the economy. Well let me tell you. I was looking for a job in Clinton’s economy. You know the one that suddenly became a recession the day after President Bush took office?

I remember jobs in my field (Information Technology) drying up, and the pay of those available plummeting. There were the Democrats denying that we were in a recession right up to the inauguration. (You can do that when you have the active collusion of the major media outlets.)

The current economy is very strong. Not perfect, but strong.

We’ll see how strong it is after your party raises taxes again. And don’t tell me that President Bush’s tax cuts were only for the rich. Save that for your welfare and minimum wage class party members’ comrade.

Your analogy is both childish and simplistic. However, it does highlight an area in which we agree. There is way too much corruption in government. And not just our government!

Just look at the mismanagement and outright corruption in the perfect (to Liberals) United Nations. (Can you say Oil-for-Food scandal? Darfur? Just to name two…)

My father taught me that just because someone is doing something different than what you want them to do didn’t mean they are wrong. Maybe you Liberals should take that to heart.

Don’t get me wrong, part of the strength of the United States our ability to disagree with each other. What I’m trying to figure out, is the point at which we moved from disagreeing with each other to attempting to ruin those with which we disagree.

With the constant barrage of bad news by media outlets like the New York Times, CBS and CNN is it any wonder that Americans are confused about the issues.

So Mr. Causal, please tell me just what laws President Bush is breaking. Oh and why don’t you use your real name? If your opinions are worth expressing shouldn't they be worth owning up too.

This is a quote from Robert Watada, himself a coward and draft dodger.

"My son took an oath to defend the Constitution and the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic," Robert Watada said Tuesday. "The worst enemy we have today is the tyranny of the domestic president. Everything he says is based on deceit."

The operative phrase here is “My son took an oath…” Your son is typical of most conscientious objectors, they only become so when they find that they may be killed or injured.

When you join the military you join to kill people. I’m sorry, but that is the reason countries maintain a military. To kill their enemies!

You son should not have put on the uniform if he was not willing to fulfill his oath.

As a 12 year military veteran, who is returning to the service of our great nation, I despise Americans who join the military just to get an education. That’s what colleges and trade schools are for.

The primary reason you should join the military is to serve your country. Sure learning a skill that will help you earn a living when you return to civilian life is good, but that shouldn’t be the only, or main reason you join.

Ehren Watada has failed his men and his country. He failed to live up to the oath he took when he entered into the service of his country.

He should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Lieutenant, enjoy your eight years in Fort Leavenworth.

The Politics of Revenge?

I was listening to an interview during which she was asked about the Democrat strategy for winning the war in Iraq.

First, she not the President and the last I heard the President set that kind of policy.

Second, her answer was frightening. She responded that winning or loosing wasn’t the question, Solving the problem was the issue.

I’m sorry Pelosi, but we are in a war. Crime is a problem. Poverty is a problem. Iraq is a war.

Maybe when she becomes the President she can solve our problems by appointing idiots like San Francisco Supervisor Gerardo Sandoval to her cabinet.

After all, Clinton and the Democrats seem to think that terrorism should be handled as a criminal case. They think that terrorists should have the same rights as American citizens.

The next couple of years should be interesting. God help our troops if the Democrats get their way…

We'll also see if she and her fellow Democrats carry out thier threats to impeach President Bush.

I’m a little confused. I looked at your criteria for granting Senator Hutchinson a D+ grade. It seems to be based on her voting record on only three issues.

Surely this isn’t correct?

Looking further into this, I think I have discovered a pattern. It seems like every Republican I clicked on received a “D” or an “F”, but the Democrats all seem to be receiving either an “A’ or “B”.

Maybe John Kerry was right; America’s veterans are stupid. Especially if they fall for something as amateurish as this seems to be.

I am a veteran and a member of the Disabled American Veterans association, and I have had an ongoing argument with other veterans.

Many seem to think that they are owed something for their service. And in a way I agree with this opinion. But not the way some do…

Many of our comrades gave their lives in the service of our country, but does this really make us better than those who didn’t serve in the military?

I don’t think so.

What are we owed? We are owed compassion, understanding, and respect. Medical care to ease the suffering of injured veterans is definitely part of that, but only part.

It really angers me when people fail to get beyond their personal opinions and agendas.

My support of Senator Hutchinson comes from a wider appreciation of what she has accomplished. And I admit because of her assistance in a very important immigration matter, concerning my wife.

Even so, I would not support her if I didn’t feel she was the best candidate out there. I am not a Democrat (or a Republican for that matter); I try to make my decisions based on facts. Real facts not contrived “scales”.

I ask myself, is this candidate the best person for my country? Not is she the best person to help me move my agenda forward.

In how many votes has Senator Hutchinson participated? You can select any three votes from any three senators and end up with the score like the one you created.

At its best this scale is insulting to the intelligence of any literate veteran.

I am second generation military. When I grew up my father’s generation called it “being in the service.”

I believe in this so strongly that I am returning to the “service” of my country.

Don’t misunderstand me, veterans need organizations to stand up for our well being. What they don’t need is self-serving distortions. Leave those up to the professionals like John Kerry.

Show Your Support for Our Troops!

John Kerry has shown America his contempt of our military members. Finally , after a growing tide of anger he appologized for his remarks.

I ask myself this question. Does America need a president from a party that chose John Kerry as their candidate for the most powerful position in the world?

As a former veteran, who is seeking to return to active duty, I can not forgive nor forget the actions and remarks of John Kerry.

I implore Americans to cast their vote next week. Vote Democrat, Republican or whatever.

I'm voting for Senator Hutchinson.

Well Kerry finally apologized, sort of. According to the Democrat political machine that’s it, we now have to accept his apology and forget he said anything derogatory about our fighting men and women.

Here’s the problem, he apologized for his failed joke about the president, but we still haven’t addressed the feelings he revealed about our troops.

Just look at his record. After his time in Vietnam, he branded American troops as baby killers and rapists. Then in Iraq he accused American troops of terrorizing “innocent” women and children.

Now Democrats want us to ignore his comments. Would they want these comments ignored if they were uttered by a Republican? Sure they would…

I served under a couple of officers like Kerry when I was in the military. Thankfully, I only had to put up with a very few of these glory hunting idiots.

I wonder how many VC soldiers were watching his “film crew” while John Kerry marched triumphantly through the village his men had just pillaged and burned?

Oh, I’m sorry! I forgot. It was other American soldiers that did these despicable deeds, not John Kerry.

This is the reason I so dislike John Kerry. Not just because of his politics. He endangered the lives of his men in order to stage film footage of himself in a combat zone.

American veterans rightly vilified Jane Fonda, who in reality was a dupe of the North Vietnamese government. Why does Kerry seem to have immunity for his actions after he returned to the USA?

Another thing that bothers me is that Democrats immediately started attacking George Bush when anyone objects to Kerry’s remarks. Please children, contain your anger and act like adults.

This has nothing to do with George Bush. It has everything to do with John Kerry; his dislike and exploitation of the American military.

How did he defend his statement? He tried to convince everyone that he was referring to President Bush! Yeah, right!

What? A Katrina foreign policy? How many terrorist attacks have we had, on American soil, since we started taking the war to the Islamic Fascists? None!

“If anyone thinks a veteran would criticize the more than 140,000 heroes serving in Iraq and not the president who got us stuck there, they're crazy. This is the classic G.O.P. playbook. I’m sick and tired of these despicable Republican attacks that always seem to come from those who never can be found to serve in war, but love to attack those who did.”

The people who owe our troops an apology are George W. Bush and Dick Cheney who misled America into war and have given us a Katrina foreign policy that has betrayed our ideals, killed and maimed our soldiers, and widened the terrorist threat instead of defeating it. The CNN Sniper Story

Once again the American media shows it callous hatred of the American soldier. Why is it necessary to show a terrorist sniper killing one of our men? How is this legitimate news?

Reporting the death is one thing, but showing a video of the enemy as they prepare to kill is another thing all together.

Showing scenes such as these shows an utter disregard for the men and women who are fighting for freedom. This presentation shows the true colors of CNN, and of all the Liberal media.

Isn’t it about time they stopped making ratings on the deaths of our soldiers?

Isn’t it about time they started showing the truth about the events taking place in Iraq and Afghanistan?

Isn’t it about time they stop their “yellow journalism”?

Isn’t it time reporters remember they have a responsibility to factually report the news? Fact not fiction, fact not opinion!

Instead of factual reporting we get opinionated commentary. The news media have a great power to mold public opinion. Just look at what happened during the Tet Offensive.

The Tet Offensive was a military disaster, FOR THE NORTH VIETNAMESE! They were decimated, but how was this presented to the American public? It was presented as a defeat for America.

Venezuela is typical of many countries in the world. They are underdeveloped and unable to move fully into the 21^st century. So what do they do, they blame their problems on the United States of America.

Hugo Chavez taunts the U. S. knowing that we would not invade his country. Why bother, we’d just have to put billions of dollars into it just to bring it to up to our minimum standards. He knows this.

As for his little battle of words with Mexico, we neither country can project their military might to the others country. So he’s safe talking trash there.

I have this to say to Chavez. If one American Carrier Battle Group can wipe out your entire military then you need to keep your mouth shut! You might want to open up a few history books and learn how other countries with the military and economic power of the U. S. used their abilities.

Japan, Germany, France and Great Britain all used their power to conquer other countries and impose their way of life upon them. Just who has the United States conquered?

Chavez is a punk dictator who is struggling to be heard. If there were a Democrat President, in the White House, the liberal media would totally ignore him. Since they are convinced that destroying President Bush is the most important goal they continuously give exposure to anything that they think makes George Bush look bad.

Isn’t it strange that the comments of a 14^th century ruler still apply to Islam toady?

Throughout the modern world, radical Islamic militants use fear and intimidation to spread their ideology. Churches burnt, clergy murdered, airplanes flown into skyscrapers…

A quick online search of recent news posts will reveal many stories of forced conversion. When the choice is to embrace Islam or die, most people in poor countries will convert. They do not have the protections we enjoy here in the United States of America.

Maybe instead of calling for the Pope’s death, adherents of Islam should look at why their religion is perceived as a religion of violence and intolerance.

Once again, where are the moderates in Islam? Why don’t they use their voice to control the more radical elements of their religion?

Maybe the violence resulting from the Pope’s comments is the answer to that question. They don’t want to die…

In Iraq we have found artillery shells containing sarin gas. Applying the above definition sarin gas counts as a WMD!

I’m curious do you know any muslims as acquaintances or friends? I know several, I even married one. She is an American, her parents are Egyptian. When people ask me what nationality I am I say Irish and Italian. When abroad I say American (and I say it proudly). Several of our muslim friends say the same, in the states they say their ancestral country, but when outside the states they say American. Now when you ask a jewish person their nationality they say "I'm Jewish". I think that you are lumping all muslims together. I agree that countries that practice shia law are radical and ass backwards, but countries like Jordan, Lebanon, Kuwait, Egypt, Turkey, Dubai do not practice this archaic form of “law” and some are actually quite liberal. Lebanese are considered partiers, and Dubai is setting up resorts to attract Europeans and yes Americans. You seem to be an intelligent man, so don’t let the media cram it’s bullshit down you throat and tell you what’s what. Read more then the Koran and the Bible to find out what the followers of religions actually believe.

I have known some people who were Muslims, but not many to tell the truth. I also served in the Middle East in my time in the Air Force. I'm not really a religious person and I admit I have a hard time understanding anyone who lets a religion dominate his life, Christian, Jew or Muslim.

In college, I knew a man from Iraq. He was my closest contact with Islam. He was a good and gentle man, but he wasn’t particularly religious. In my retail experience my waitresses and I were often subjected to verbal abuse from Middle Eastern military personnel training at the nearby airbase.

Just as moderate Christians changed the Christian faith of the Middle Ages to a less oppressive institution, moderate Muslims must do the same for their religion.

I know many Islamic countries have made great strides to join the modern era others have not. I salute those countries that have but their silence concerning militant Islamic actions equates to moral cowardice.

It has been my experience that most Muslims, and I'll admit Jews, identify them themselves as members of their religion first over their national allegiance. As for what I say when asked about my nationality, I am and always will identify myself as an American. In the USA or out. Nothing else! I was once called a European American and I corrected that person immediately.

Maybe I have overstated aspects of my rhetoric, for that I apologize. In today’s world you sometimes have to scream to be heard.

The fact remains that until the Muslim community reins in the extreme elements of their religion they will be viewed with suspicion and scorn.

I read the Koran, and the Bible, to understand what motivates the different groups. I consider both to be man's interpetation of their faith, not Gods.

People have to understand their actions reflect on the group as a whole. Christians once burned people at the stake for many reasons, some for just daring to be different. In many places Islam is still just as bad.

How long will moderates tolerate the extremists defining their religion?

My earliest recollection of Islam was during the 1972 Olympics in Germany.

I remember the machine gun armed German Police at every intersection.

I remember watching on German TV the aftermath of a PLO attack on an Israeli bus and the seven year old girl they executed.

I remember over 400 days of shame in Iran.

I remember over 200 American Marines killed in Lebanon.

Where was the condemnation of the Moderates in the Islamic religion?

As individuals many Muslims are good people. However, don’t you think it’s time for them to take a stand against the radical elements of their religion?

Finally! The US Senate passed a bill that would open up portions of the US coast lines to oil exploration. Unfortunately Democrats have managed to limit the benefit that will be realized from this action.

Thank you Senator Harry Reid, once again Liberal Democrats put their politics before the national good!

Hopefully the compromise bill between the House and Senate will address the failings of the Senate Bill.

The House bill opens up most of the East and West coast areas to drilling for Oil and Natural Gas.

Senator Reid believes the United States can not reduce its entire dependence on imported oil. Current estimates are that foreign oil supplies 60 percent of our consumption. So what, if we reduce it 40 or 50 percent we’ll be in a much better situation.

I do agree that the US should look to alternate fuel sources such as wind and solar power, ethanol, hydrogen fuel, and (Gasp!) nuclear power. But that’s for the future. Right now we need to use our own resources.

Think about this, our economy is growing at a very rapid pace, even under the huge financial burden of $75.00 per barrel oil. How much faster would it be growing if we were able to reduce the cost of oil by 25 or 30 percent? What about natural gas?

Another complaint is that the Gulf Coast states will benefit financially from the drilling. This is just plain outright jealousy! Liberal Democrats would rather continue purchasing massive amounts of foreign oil which is effectively nothing but a world wide wealth redistribution program.

I realize that for many politicians their political agenda is more important than the good of the Nation. It is time to stop the rhetoric and look at the future of this nation!

Only a strong America can spare the resources to implement your expensive welfare and environmental programs. Or should I say your expensive re-election campaigns instead? That’s what they really are…

To fight these zealots, we need to engage them in a multi-front assault.

· Oil is the single most important support for Middle Eastern terrorism. Reduce western dependence upon oil and you’ll see most of the danger disappear overnight.

o Drilling for oil in the United States and other countries will reduce the world’s dependence on Middle Eastern oil, thus reducing the amount of money available for Jihad.

o Increased development of nuclear and geothermal power plants will further reduce the need for Middle Eastern oil.

· Ideally, development and deployment of hydrogen power cells would drastically lower America’s dependence on imported petroleum products.

· The world must force the Islamic countries to embrace the 21^st century and leave behind the cultural attitudes that hold them firmly in the 16^th century.

o If countries like Iran and Syria want to support terrorism, they need suffer for their actions.

o Democracy is the disinfectant needed to destroy these backwards attitudes. This may be the most difficult task for have to undertake.

· The world must hold the Islamic countries responsible for the actions of their citizens. Even if it means going to war with these countries.

o Just because someone doesn’t believe in the same things that you do, doesn’t mean you can deny their beliefs, much less kill them.

o This goes for Christians and Jews as well as Muslims!

· Moderate Muslims must stop giving tacit approval of the actions of the radical Islamic fundamentalist! Silence equals approval.

· Americans need to understand they are privileged to live in the best country in the entire world. We need to concentrate on the positives and over come the negatives.

The United Nations is a corrupt and ineffective organization governed by individuals like Kofi Annan who only want to line their pockets with aid money.

The United Nations is both incapable and unwilling to comply with its mandate.

As such, it is up to countries like the Untied States to ensure the security of the world. This is nothing new, it has been our burden since WWII.

America is the reason why communism failed. America is the reason why fascism hasn’t spread all over the world.

UN Leader Accuses Israel of Intentionally Killing UN Peacekeepers

Why is this so?

Even the so called moderates fail to take a stand against the violence. I remember after 9/11, American Muslims “deploring” the attack then in the same breath saying they understood the anger that caused the attack.

To me they were saying they thought America deserved to be attacked.

I’m not a religious person, but I don’t have a problem if you are. That’s part of what it means to be an American.

You can be a Christian, Muslim or nothing. It’s your choice.

My problem starts when you start requiring me to live by or be limited by the tenants of your religion.

I read an article on a study about Islam and its adherents. One thing that really scared me is that most Muslims see themselves as Muslims first and citizens of whatever country that happen to infest second.

Now as I said, I don’t care what your religion is. Just don’t bother me with it!

Islam however seems to be a very aggressive and oppressive religion. They not only think they have the right to practice their religion, but to require you to live under the restrictions of their religion.

Further, they think they have the right to kill you if you fail to live under Islam. Just look at any country dominated by Islam and you’ll find stories where people are mutilated and killed for transgressions on Islamic law.

My question is do we want these people in the United States? In fact, do we want anyone in the United States that refuses to become an “American”?

Here’s a novel thought. Instead of raising the minimum wage, maybe those people should educate themselves and get a better job!

Pelosi says she wants to raise the minimum wage, what she really wants to do is buy the votes of those who are too lazy to better themselves.

Even worse, her plan will reduce the real buying power of those of us who have educated and bettered ourselves.

Raising the minimum wage from $5.15 to $7.25 is a 29 percent raise. Is she going to raise my pay by 29 percent? I doubt it! Raising the minimum wage effectively reduces my salary by the same amount. Who wants a 29 percent pay cut? Not me! Do you?

This is just another Democrat attempt at income redistribution and vote buying! Remember when you go to the polls, voting for a Democrat is the same as voting for a pay cut!

Remember also, it’s the Democrats that want to run away from Iraq, empower the UN, and not secure our borders!

Conduct Unbecoming an Officer…

Lt Ehren Watada showed the country his cowardice when he refused to deploy with his unit. Worse still he failed his men.

An officer has a responsibility to care for the men and women entrusted to his command. That doesn’t mean he must guarantee their safety, but it does mean he should ensure their skills are used wisely and their lives aren’t wasted.

His men have deployed to war without their leader. Luckily the US Army will provide a replacement.

Lt Ehren Watada knew what he was signing on for when he accepted his commission. Now he should face the consequences and the US Army should prosecute him to the fullest extent on the UCMJ.

Religious In-Tolerance

Religion should be a unifying agent. It should bring the world into a closer understanding of peace and respect.

Too often the reality is that it is a deadly, divisive sham!

Understand that I am talking about the institutions of religion, not God. People are the problem with religion. Their greed and desire for power often leads to attempts to impose their beliefs on others.

You still see this in the “bible belt” of the United States of America where the views of an ultra religious minority attempt to dictate the actions of the majority.

However, the worst perpetrators of this activity are those that practice the religion of Islam. The intolerance that seems to permeate the practitioners of this religion is staggering!

What gives these people the right to stone someone to death for doing something against the Koran? The same thing that gave Christians the right to burn people at the stake!

Their religion!

The only saving grace is that Christianity has finally pulled itself out of the middle ages. I just wonder when Islam will do the same!

I do not have a problem with anyone practicing their religion; I do have a problem when they tell me that I have to live my life as they decree.

In every country where Islam has become the predominant religion it has taken over and dictated that others adhere to its tenants. Or face the consequences!

Just look at the outcry over the cartoons published in Denmark! Or the death threats against Salman Rushdie for his novel “The Satanic Verses”. And what do you think would happen to Dan Brown if he had written a novel similar to the “Da Vinvi Code”?

Lieutenant Ehren Watada is a coward. Plain and simple!

This is just another case of people joining the military for the wrong reasons.

I spent over eleven years in the military. Seven of those years attached to the 3rd Combat Communications Squadron. When our unit was deployed, we deployed.

Lieutenant Ehren Watada is an officer in the US Army. He should be charged with disobeying an order and missing a movement; then tried under the UCMJ.

You can’t allow soldiers to decide when and if they are going to deploy. What happens if he decided, in the middle of a battle, that he didn’t want to follow orders? How many soldiers would loose their lives?

Why is it that the American media is so vocal about anything negative concerning the American military? Oh, I know! “Bush lied!”

Where is the outcry about the conditions of the Marines being held at Camp Pendleton? Oh, I know! They’re just soldiers, they don’t count!

If these men were civilians and were being forced to endure these conditions the ALCU would be shouting about it everywhere!

When I was in the military, I thought the Uniformed Code of Military Justice (UCMJ) was a much fairer system then the current system that applies to the civilian population. It is a harsher system, but I thought fairer.

Now, I just don’t know! You have Americans being treated like convicted criminals! Americans who have yet to be charged of a crime! Obviously the UCMJ has changed. Or maybe I was just naive.

As an American Veteran, I am disgusted by the attitude of the liberal media. Once, a long time ago, I learned that the job of a journalist was to present the news in an unbiased manner. Today, journalism is nothing but a venue used to further a cause. Truth has become a casualty.

In this case an insurgent was preparing a position to inflict harm, emplacing an IED. He was killed in the ensuing battle. Now, his “family” is telling another story.

I’m not going to take the word of any of these people concerning the event. Too many people in this world will do anything to kill or harm an American!

But the crime is not really the point. Investigate then prosecute, if necessary. Until then grant these men the basic rights guaranteed by the Constitution of the United States!

A Secret in Middle America...

It is painfully obvious to any person that follows the policies of the UN that the United States of America is seen as an enemy of most of its membership.

The UN is a corrupt organization and is as ineffective as was the former League of Nations. The “oil for food” scandal is only one example of how corrupt this body has become.

Why then do so many liberals look to the UN as the ultimate governing body on this planet? Here’s my theory.

Most American Liberals are ashamed of the wealth this nation has accumulated. Their policies, domestic and external, reveal a common theme. America is bad because we are too rich and they need to redistribute the wealth to the masses.

Consider, policies driven by environmental liberalism force oil exploration and production to foreign countries. This ensures large transfers of wealth from the USA to other parts of the world.

This single effort has pulled billions of dollars from the US economy and injected it into the economies of the so called “third world”.

Further, America Liberals perpetuate the myth of global warming to further attack the US economy. Restrictions emplaced by this scientifically unsupportable position damages our economy by increasing costs and driving investment offshore.

The UN eagerly supports this because it strengthens their position.

American Liberals even attempt to involve the UN in the choosing of our president! Remember when members of the Democrat Party wanted the UN to monitor the presidential election?

Do you want those thugs over here in the US raping and looting like they are doing in Darfur? I sure don’t!

The United States must not allow the UN to dictate our internal or foreign policies! The UN is not a friend of the USA. The comments of its leaders and supporters are proof of this.

As Americans we need to reject the politics of liberalism and demand that our politicians remember their obligation to the American people. Demand that oil exploration be allowed off our coasts and in Alaska. Demand that sane environment policies be implemented. Demand that the UN be held accountable for its actions and corruption.

Demand the withdrawal of the United States from the United Nations, or at least limit our monetary contributions.

There are 191 member countries in the United Nations. The US share should be much lower than the current percentage, estimated at 22 percent!

It’s our money that is allowing the UN forces in Darfur to rape and pillage at will!

I read an article that reported statistics from the Border Patrol that the fences already in place have reduced illegal traffic by 95%!

Mexico and the ALCU are looking to sue the US if we use the National Guard to secure our borders. (The ALCU and their Liberal friends are the un-Americans who would crucify any soldier who killed anyone crossing the border!) Just who do they think they are?

Maybe the next time the Mexican Army crosses our border we should take them out!

Statements and information like this have caused me to look at my feelings concerning border security and immigration.

I still think we shouldn't fill up our jails with every illegal alien we happen to catch crossing the frontier. However, there is plenty of room to for the "coyotes" and drug runners. They should be sentenced to life in prison, without parole!

Mexico needs to solve its problems on its own, not export them to the US!

People all over the news, most without any military experience, are demanding we use the National Guard and active military to secure our borders. But do they understand the problems it associated with it?

Securing our borders is more of a police function than a military one.

I know you liberals can’t stand it, but the job of a U. S. Infantryman is to kill people! Do you really want someone who’s trained to kill to patrol the borders of our nation?

I can just see the headlines of the New York Times. “US Soldiers Kill Helpless Immigrants As They Try To Find A Better Life!”

Police training is different than military training. The military is trained to kill, to deny the use of terrain to an enemy force. Police tactics preclude free fire zones. Law enforcement focuses on apprehension and suppression of criminal activity.

Yes, illegally crossing the US border is a crime. But it’s not a capital crime. It could be if you put the US military in a situation they aren’t prepared for.

I like to look at the example of Kent State. Faced with a bunch of rioting college students, who lacked the guts to serve in the military, some of the young soldiers panicked. And with typical American over statement it became know as the Kent State Massacre!

This situation would have never happened had the troops involved had the proper riot control training! When I was in the guard we received very little riot control training, the active duty force receives none.

Let me say this again; do not put these kids in this kind of situation!

Leave the riot control and border enforcement to the professionals. The Border Patrol!

What Is Wrong With California?

Gordon Thompson, a federal judge, ruled for the removal of a Korean War Memorial from the summit of Mount Soledad in San Diego California. The original law suit was brought to court by Philip Paulson. His case rested on the separation of church and state amendment of the U. S. Constitution.

I tried to find this amendment, but couldn’t!

The closest I could come is the First Amendment to the U. S. Constitution. Maybe he and Judge Thompson are using anther constitution…

Amendment I

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

Seems simple to me!

Oh and I can count on one hand the number of times I have been in a church, of any religion! So don’t call me a religious fanatic!

I’m wondering, is this really a religious issue or is it instead an attack on the men who fight and die to keep our nation free? If the memorial was supporting the sacrifices of a local non military group, would it be a problem? I doubt it!

Then you have California Republican Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger who opposes off shore drilling for natural gas! I guess he can afford to pay over $3.00 per gallon for gasoline.

Yeah, I know the difference. Maybe this doesn’t address our problems at the gas pump, but it will help in other areas.

We import over 15% of our natural gas, 95% of which comes from Canada. Maybe if we were to convert from fuel oil to natural gas we could reduce some of our dependence on foreign sources of oil. How much could be gained by converting from fuel oil to natural gas.

Step one, drill for natural gas. Step two, drill for oil!

Let’s look at what these people are failing to understand. First nothing has been said indicating that anybody who immigrated to this country legally is in any danger of being persecuted. ALL of the proposed legislation is aimed at illegal immigration!

Second, the only people with a racial agenda here are the people who believe that “white” people are against immigrants because they aren’t “white”. Most Americans are against illegal immigration, regardless of the skin color of the ILLEGAL IMIGRANTS!

Here are some quotes from some of the immigration protestS. I removed their names because I do not want to be sued.

I didn’t include any about giving back Texas, California, New Mexico, and Arizona to Mexico, or about the “reconquista” movement.

"We pay our taxes, we obey the law, we are learning English, our lives are here." a 24-year-old illegal immigrant from Mexico, at the Los Angeles demonstration.

This person is paying taxes? How? If he is illegal, then he doesn’t have a social security number. In most of these cases he’s using a stolen social security number. There’s a name for this activity, it’s called Identity Theft!

How many Americans get audited every year because of illegal aliens “paying” their taxes?

Think about it. You claim $30,000.00 taxable income, but the IRS shows $55,000.00. What do you think is going to happen? Can you say A-U-D-I-T?

Obeying the law? Not if he’s here illegally!

"We're here. And all we're asking is fair treatment for everyone. We don't want immigrants to be criminalized." a protester who marched to Los Angeles City Hall with a niece and nephew.

Again, immigrants aren’t being criminalized. The issue is ILLEGAL IMIGRANTS!

I understand the desire to give your family a better life, but not at the costs of my way of life. The problems in other countries are not my problems.

Do these people really think that shouting anti-American slogans and waving the Mexican flag is going to help their cause?

All they are doing is hardening the opinions of the American population. This isn’t 1970; there are many more news outlets. Nobody is going to buy the propaganda that Americans are against immigrants.

My wife is from Mexico, we spent three long years bringing her here legally! What makes you think you are better than we are? Than she is! What makes you think you deserve to be excused from the immigration process?

Open letter to the US Congress

The energy situation in the Unites States is fast approaching another crisis. Something must be done about our dependence on foreign sources of energy.

Energy costs are sucking money out of our economy, money that could be fueling growth.

I urge you to support the procurement of alternate energy sources.

We need to increase the amount of electricity generated by hydro-electric and nuclear power plants. Further, we need to open up oil exploration in other areas, such as the Gulf of Mexico and in Alaska.

Also, I have talked to several local independent oil producers and they tell me they are not allowed to pump oil at full capacity. Why is that? Seems like we’d want to pump all the domestic oil possible!

The environmental movement needs to be slowed down and made to face reality. Stopping a hydro-electric dam because of a water snake (Stacy Dam Project, West Texas and the Concho Water Snake) is stupid. People should count more than snakes and insects.

The Environmental Protection Agency seems to have forgotten they are an arm of the United States Government and as such are subject to the desires of the American people.

All of the people, not just a lunatic political fringe!

This leads to the construction of new petroleum refineries. Simply put we need more. I think the discussions about using closed military bases have great merit.

Consider, in 2003 there were 130,728,360 individual tax returns filed. Applying the proposed $100.00 tax credit would generate $13,072,836,000.00. How many refineries could we build with that amount of money?

Take my $100.00 check and build new refineries.

Let's set aside politics and solve this problem!

How much are you paying at the gas pump? I’m paying $2.70 per gallon! Some are paying over $3.00 per gallon!

WHY!

One reason is that oil companies have discovered the law of supply and demand. They have found if they artificially reduce the supply, demand pushes up their profit.

They aren’t the only villains in this conspiracy. Liberal environmentalist and their absurd demands are helping drive our economy into the ground.

Their attempts at environmental warfare and the oil companies’ greed have put this country in a crisis. How much better would our economy be if we didn’t have so many billions of dollars being removed from our economy?

Immigration Woes - The Parrott Family Saga

Following the ongoing debate on Immigration Reform has caused me quite a bit of irritation. Everyone seems to want to pass laws that states like Texas will have to pay for, without addressing the issues that cause the illegal immigration issue in the first place.

Maybe we can’t do anything about the economy of Mexico, but we can do something about how we process our immigration paperwork or enforce the laws we already have on the books.

Here’s a perfect example of the bottleneck created by the current immigration process.

I spent three years bringing my wife to the USA. The immigration service and my congressional representative both told me that I should have brought her across on a fiancée visa because it was quicker than bringing her here after we were married.

What all that means is that I could find a complete stranger, ask her to marry me and get her into the US quicker than if we were already married!

Does this make sense? It must to somebody!

The immigration process is broken and needs a massive restructuring; any immigration reform that fails to accomplish this crucial step is destined to failure.

The system, as it stands today encourages illegal entry into the US. In fact, it is easier to enter the US illegally than legally!

Immigration Ignorance

As American citizens, we have the right of peaceful assembly to protest actions we find objectionable. Too bad we don’t have the obligation to understand what we are protesting before we exercise that right!

One of the local radio news programs read a copy of the press release for one of the student protests. It was terrible! If you can’t correctly spell the word “come”, it was spelled “cum”, then how do you think anyone will take you seriously?

Another news program asked several of the students why they were protesting. Almost none of them knew. They were just there to get out of school. Still several liberal news outlets praised the actions of these students across the nation.

I have a great interest in immigration reform because my wife and I just finished a three year process to bring her to the US from Mexico. Legally!

The problem, as I see it, is three-fold.

Legal immigration is too difficult; it is literally easier to sneak into the country.
The Mexican economy does not provide the opportunity for its citizens to earn a decent living.
The greed of American businesses fuel the flood by employing these illegal immigrants. (It’s not just big companies that are guilty of this, many smaller companies take advantage of these people also!)

Find a way to solve these problems and most of them will go away.

Alternatively, you can protest. Will waving the Mexican flag, chanting Anti-American slogans and calling anyone who opposes your agenda a racist encourage Americans to see your side. I doubt it!

Let’s fix the problems we can and see what happens then. Here’s the Parrott Plan:

Increase the number of immigrants allowed into the US, especially from Mexico.

Increase the ability of the State Department to process applications
Allow processing at all US Consulates located in Mexico instead of just Ciudad Juarez. (It took almost 8 months from when our paperwork was received until we had an appointment!)

Make any business caught knowingly employing illegal immigrants pay a fine large enough to discourage further infractions. Make it hurt!
Create a guest worker program that can only be entered into from outside the country. Anyone caught working illegally in the US should face permanent deportation. No second chances!
Require all new citizens, not immigrants, to read and speak English fluently.
Take steps to promote the development of a true Mexican middle class so they can have the opportunity there, not just here. (This is a good project for you Liberal Democrats since you like redistributing other people’s wealth so much!)

The United States was built on the dreams of immigrants, and we still need them to replenish our strength. However the process, by which we accomplish this needs to be reworked.

People who immigrate to the US should become Americans, not just residents. By immigrating to the US you are giving up your identity as a citizen of another country. If you want to continue to be a German, an Englishman, or a Mexican stay there.

Are you a Conditional American?

You’ve heard them. Everyone’s heard them! I’m a “blank” American. African American, Mexican American, European American, German American – anything but just an American!

A while back I had a Conditional American refer to me as a European American. It actually hurt their feelings when I corrected them and said I was an American, not a European American.

Where my family came from is irrelevant. Yes there may be Welsh, German, English and North American Indian in my background, but that doesn’t make me any one of them.

As an American I am proud of my country and my heritage. Yes there have been dark periods in our history, but they have been over come.

Slavery was the worst, but there is enough blame so every race can have its share of that shame. The fact is over 600,000 Americans died ending slavery.

I am proud of the American soldiers who in war after war went into battle under equipped and under trained, but still won.

I am proud of every American that has stood up for freedom, both in the United States of America and the world.

I am proud to be an American, because despite our problems there is no better place in this world to live.

I didn't vote for Gorge Bush in his first election bid, but I did in his second. I felt he acquited himself well after 9/11. Kerry's military career showed him to be the worst type of officer, won who was arrogant and cared little for the safety and well being of his troops.

For the most part, I agree with the actions of the administration conducting the war in Iraq.

However, the NSA Wire Tapping program is totally wrong. If American's have to give up their right to privacy then the terrorists win. Period!

Imagine this scenario. You are driving home from Ithaca or Denver or NYC or McAllen. Where’s McAllen? It’s on the Texas –

You come upon a checkpoint on the side of the road. This person, wearing the green of the US Border Patrol asks you if you are an American citizen.

You answer, that you are indeed an American citizen. End of story, right?

No! It’s not!

Next, the Border Patrol agent asks you "What was the purpose of your visit to McAllen (Denver, Ithaca…)?"

Now, here’s where I really have a problem. Since I’m an American citizen, listen carefully now…

“I DO NOT NEED TO HAVE A REASON TO VISIT ANY TOWN IN THE UNITED STATES!”

It’s not anyone’s business why I’m driving, just mine. Not yours! Certainly not the governments!

How can they get away with this?

Simple, the border region is generally sparsely populated, and most of the population is Latino. How long do you think this behavior would last if they were stopping people in Maryland, Illinois, Indiana or Virginia?

In typical Washington style, all to protect us from the dangerous terrorists, we will soon need a passport to cross between the US and Mexico. Way to go Washington; let’s burden our citizens instead of the terrorist! This law makes absolutely no sense!

Nor does the proposal to make illegal entry into the US well – illegal! Non Border States see this as an easy way to control illegal immigration. They won’t have to deal with the costs of adding all these newly minted felons to our prison systems. Texas, New Mexico and the other Border States will bear this costs!

It’s not their states that will be turned into an American version of the Berlin Wall! It’s not their town that will have armed guards patrolling, questioning them about teheir legitimacy! Would you want this in your town?

Are we going to put land mines and machine guns every few feet for the entire length of the border? Are we going to kill people for wanting a chance at a better life?

And why Mexico? Is this really an attempt to protect the US from terrorism, or an attempt to stop Latino's from coming to America?

Several provisions of the Patriot Act are being debates this week, to the cries of despair from conservatives such as Rush Limbaugh. Get rid of it!

As American’s, our freedom is our strength. Let’s not let our enemies win! President Bush, enforce the US Constitution and everything else will take care of itself.

Right now the US Armed Forces are doing their job; protecting the US from foreign aggression. They are the reason we haven't been attacked again, not the US Border Patrol!
